This Life Sized Growth Ruler is handmade from 100% reclaimed barn wood (typically oak) salvaged from farms in West Virginia or Southwest Virginia.
Like most people, when my children were very young we periodically marked their height on a door jamb. After many years in the same house, work required a move. The thing I missed most after that move was leaving behind all of the history marked on that door jamb. I vowed that would never happen again, so I made a portable door jamb that could travel with us. As the design evolved I started making these as gifts. Now it seems everyone is selling them.
However, when you buy one of my Life Sized Growth Rulers you are buying a piece of handmade history in the form of reclaimed barn wood literally salvaged from an old barn. The numbers and measurement marks are painted. Hanging hardware included.
The 5’ model has been planed, sanded and sealed with MinWax Sanding Sealer. (Contact me for other sizes or options.)
The pictures you see in my store are intended as a representative sample for my Life Sized Growth Rulers. You will receive a ruler made from the same pattern, the same size and of the same type wood as the sample. Again, all of these rulers are handmade by me from 100% reclaimed barn wood, therefore each item is literally one of a kind with different wood characteristics and individual reclaimed attributes including but not limited to grain, color, dimensional uniformity, checks, splits, cracks, holes, knots, warp, twist, bow, cuts, scrapes, scratches etc. No two pieces are the same so please consider this before you order.
